RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Engineer. Specific responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:
- Control of engineering staff for the daily operations of all Machinery and Systems onboard the ship, maintenance and repair work in line with the TM Master (Tero Marine – An Integrated Marine Information System).
- Participate in the general planning of ship’s machinery maintenance in accordance to TM Master (based on manufacturer’s recommendation and marine practice).
- Be familiar with the ship’s systems, repair schedules, and test results obtained from oil and water samples.
- Lead raising requisition of spare parts in co-operation and agreement with the Chief Engineer.
- Repair any failure and follow up with adequate DRR (Defect & Repair Report).
- Ensure that all safety requirements are met before and during maintenance (this includes issuance of Work Permit, Risk Assessment and other Safety procedure).
- Responsible for keeping engine room logs during the watch and ensure that all repairs and happenings are noted in the Engine Room log-book.
- Perform watch duties in ECR.
- Assist during bunkering operations.
- Responsible for keeping the Engine room and other areas (that belong to Engine Department) clean and tidy.
- Comply with the E/R standing orders.
- Familiarize himself with the vessel’s Safety Management System (SMS) and emergency procedures in particular his own assigned emergency duties in that respect.
REQUIREMENTS:

Passport with at least 12 months validity - Valid Seaman’s Identification and Record Book
- Drug and Alcohol Certificate
- Yellow Fever Certification and Chicken Pox Vaccination
- Covid 19 fully vaccinated
- OPITO accredited BOSIET /HUET
- Medical with Dental Fitness Certificate issued as per ILO/MLC/STCW 2010 as amended
- 2nd Engineer Unlimited (STCW III/2)
- Advance Fire Fighting (STCW VI/3)(Five Year Refresher)
- Proficiency in Medical First Aid (STCW VI/4-1)
- Proficiency in Survival craft and rescue boats ((STCW VI/2 Section A-VI/2-1) (Five Year Refresher)
- Basic Safety Training
- High Voltage (only if vessel supply operating at 1,000V + AC Current)
- Ship (Bridge / Engine Room) Resource Management (STCW Part B-V111/2)
- Ship Security Awareness (STCW Reg-VI/6.2 and Section A-VI/6.4)
- Seafarers with designated security duties (STCW VI/6.5 and Section A-VI/6.6)
- Kongsberg DP Maintenance (Where applicable)
- At least 12 months experience as a 2nd Engineer, including minimum 6 months of proven service on DPII or DPIII Vessel.
- Excellent command of the English Language
